Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my child needs therapy?
When a child is experiencing difficulty coping at home or school, or simply going through a stressful time such as their parents’ divorce, birth of a sibling, transition to school, or any other similar situation, it may be recommended that your youth receive supportive therapy. During these stressful times, youth often have difficulty understanding and communicating their thoughts and feelings. A safe and non-judgmental environment can help them heal and move past these difficult experiences. Our goal of treatment is to develop the youth’s coping mechanisms to assist them with current functioning as well as future ability to deal with stressors. We also encourage the stability of the child-parent relationship, as evidence shows that the strength relationship is the best predictor of a child’s ability to feel safe and secure so they are able to work through future stressors.
Do you take insurance?
Piedmont Therapeutics, PLLC is an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina accepting most preferred provider organization (PPO) plans, including:
· Blue Advantage
· Blue Options
· Blue Select
· Classic Blue
· North Carolina State Health Plan
However, each plan is unique and may not provide coverage for all offered services. If the identified service is not covered in your individual plan self-pay rates will be applied.
We are considered an out-of-network provider for all other insurance providers. We will be happy to assist each client with paperwork for reimbursement receipts to submit to their insurance if needed. Therapy services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit program.
The following questions may be helpful to discuss with your insurance carrier regarding your benefits:
· Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
· What is my deductible, and has it been met?
· Is pre-certification for therapy services required?
· What percentage of the service is covered per session?
· What is my co-pay for mental health services?
What Form of Payment do you accept?
At this time, we are an out-of-network provider with most insurers and accept payment at the time of therapy session through cash, debit, or most major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and Discover).
Self-Pay Rates:
Diagnostic clinical assessment: $185.00
Individual sessions range from: $85.00 to $165.00, dependent on recommended session length
NMT Metric Assessment: $450-600
BCBS customers under the above listed plans will be billed once insurance returns their claim based on deductible, coinsurance and copayment benefits.
How long are sessions?
Session time will be individually based upon recommended treatment modality. The initial session will be a 60 minute comprehensive clinical assessment to explore recommended treatment. Following sessions will occur 1-3x per week based upon treatment needs and will last 30-60 minutes. A monthly 30-45 minute guardian/caregiver check-in session is strongly recommended to meet treatment goals. This will provide an opportunity for the caregiver(s) to share observations of the youth’s progress outside of sessions, explore familial interventions that can be used in the home and review treatment goals.
How long is treatment?
Each client will receive individualized care, and thus a time frame of treatment cannot be predicted. During monthly guardian/clinician sessions, treatment goals will be reviewed and progress will be discussed to help determine recommendations for continuation of treatment.
Do you prescribe MEDICATION?
Piedmont Therapeutics’s clinicians provide mental health therapy, but do not prescribe medication. As clinical social workers we treat youth with emotional and relational interventions. If you feel that medication could benefit your youth, our clinicians are happy to connect you with one of the child or adolescent psychiatrists we partner with in the area or work to coordinate care with your current provider.
